**Job Summary**

This is an entry-level position in our Child and Family Development Center. Training will be provided. Must demonstrate an interest in learning about child development and guidance; a willingness to take direction from the assigned teacher; willing to obtain a food handlers permit, TB test, Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) background check, first aid training are required. Demonstrated human relation and effective human relations skills are also required.

**Responsibilities**

Helps the children experience success in physical, social and intellectual tasks. Reinforces and broadens concepts as presented by the teacher. Observes behavior, documents and may offer suggestions to the teacher. Does not directly communicate with parents concerning children's problems. May assume full responsibility for the group for short periods of time when the teacher is involved in other activities. Assists teacher in activities and tasks which contributes to an orderly, clean environment for children. Meets with the teacher and staff to assist in planning. Plans a morning or afternoon small group activity with assistance of Head Teacher. Supervises playground unless specifically requested to be indoors.

**Minimum Qualifications**

This is an entry level position and on the job training is provided. The ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions; the ability to keep accurate records; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.

A general knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment and terminology; the ability to operate and care for laboratory equipment; and a knowledge of appropriate specimen handling techniques preferred.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
